Jill Arteche

  • Jill Arteche is a visual artist and illustrator based in Manila, Philippines. Valuing her freedom as a visual storyteller, she consistently showcases her unique take on beauty that celebrates the mundane and unattractive in every work. Turning to everyday experiences, whether it be a simple afternoon merienda or the 6 AM bus ride to work, her use of vibrant colors, contorted facial expressions and dynamic body language render the scenes so playfully idiosyncratic that it makes one feel guilty for failing to appreciate the magical fleeting bits of the mundane.

Her distinctive style— which she describes as “comically grotesque”—has allowed her to work with local and international clients such as SM, San Miguel Light, The Philippine Star, WeTransfer and Zimbio among others. She has also been featured numerous times in various platforms locally and internationally. Today, she pursues a full-time career in art and illustration after working for two years in the advertising industry. In 2019, she has also completed her residency in Illustration and Visual Storytelling at the School of Visual Arts in New York City.
